WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE FOR MT ALBERT

Young Labour welcomes the selection of David Shearer as the Labour candidate for the Mt Albert by-election.

Young Labour Vice President, Caitlin Merriman said “Mr Shearer brings many years of experience leading humanitarian operations for the United Nations as well as years of service to NGOs and the New Zealand Government. He has been on the front lines making a huge difference to the lives of many people.

Mr Shearer's work in international aid has seen him work in very volatile regions including Iraq, Rwanda, Gaza and in Serbia during the bombing of Belgrade.

“Mr Shearer has a very impressive record of international service and Young Labour is confident that he would represent his constituents competently and make a difference in the ordinary lives of the people of Mt Albert” Merriman added.

“Young Labour is looking forward to campaigning and working with Mr Shearer in the future.”
