Local Government kills Golden Goose
Local Government kills Golden Goose
If Councils kept rate increases within Consumer Price Index then Ratepayers would not complain to Government about rate increases well exceeding inflation but unfortunately the Golden Goose was asked to lay a golden egg to often and the result is the Minister of Local Government is reviewing and making changes on behalf of those hard done by ratepayers.
Local Government should concentrate on Core services and leave Social Outcomes to others more qualified to do so.
The Local Body Committee of Grey Power challenges Councils to reduce Rate increases by working more effectively and efficiently.
That will allow the ratepayers to then concentrate on the Electrical SOE’s who have ripped consumers off to the tune of $4.3 billion over recent years and see if we can recover some of the Golden Eggs the SOE’s have laid for themselves.
