Triangle shows support for families of Ashika tragedy

Triangle and Stratos will screen a two hour telethon called "Tonga 'Ofa Kihe Vahanoa" in a bid to raise funds for the families of the victims whose lives were lost on the Tongan ferry, Princess Ashika.

"Tonga 'Ofa Kihe Vahanoa," which means "Our love goes out to the deep deep ocean" in Tongan, will screen on Sunday August 30 featuring performances by local Tongan groups and key speakers from the Tongan community.

Pasifika Broadcasting, Kele'a Newspaper, Pacific Media Network and the NZ Tongan Society for Political Reform in Tonga have joined forces to organise the event in response to the Tongan community who are in need of support from local kiwis.

The telethon will screen on Triangle and Stratos Television on Sunday August 30 from 9-11pm.

Triangle Auckland is on UHF Channels 41, 42 and 52 and in Christchurch via TelstraClear cable (Channel 50). Triangle's sister channel, Stratos Television, broadcasts nationwide via Sky Digital (Channel 89), Freeview (Channel 21) and TelstraClear cable.
