Opening of New National Office And Appointment of New Chief Executive Announced

The New Zealand Family and Foster Care Federation will celebrate the opening of their National Office by announcing the appointment of their new Chief Executive. The Honorable Paula Bennett, Minister of Social Development will officially open the office along with members of local Iwi. The new National Office is on Level 3, 29 Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt at 9am on Monday 19 October 2009.

Co-Chair Dr Mike Field says “This is an auspicious day for the Federation. We have brought our National Office from the Hawkes Bay to be closer to Government and the national offices of the various agencies involved in Foster Care in New Zealand. So to be able to both open our new National Office and announce the appointment of our new Chief Executive feels very significant indeed.” The new Chief Executive will start on Monday the 2nd of November which is the beginning of Foster Care Awareness Week.

Dr Field says “These are important times in foster care as both Government and the various care agencies move toward better support of foster carers and deliberate steps are taken to increase the professionalisation of foster care. The Federation is excited about the opportunities which exist in foster care and I believe the new Chief Executive and the Board will lead the Federation into a positive future.” Dr Field went on to say “The new Chief Executive brings significant experience and achievements in the Not For Profit and Non Government Organisation sectors and has the very skills we need to grow the Federation so we can better represent and support Foster Carers and in turn Foster Children in Aotearoa.”
