Prime Minister John Key, please help to free NZ resident arrested in Beijing
The son of a NZ resident arrested in Beijing is appealing Prime Minister John Key to help free his father.
Mr. Jia Jia, a UN political refugee and Wellington resident was arrested by the Chinese authorities at Beijing Airport at his arrival on Wednesday, 22nd of October. Mr. Jia was well known for being at the frontline of a campaign of quitting the Chinese communist party membership.
It has been nine days since our embassy in Beijing got in touch with Chinese officials seeking further information about the circumstances of the case. Mr. Jia’s son, Kuo Jia hasn’t heard anything about his father at all.
The NZ resident’s worries about his father has been stacking while the time getting longer, knowing that people who criticize the communist regime may “disappear” without any reason.
‘My father’s situation is very serious. I hope Prime Minister John key raise this issue to the Chinese vice Prime Minister, help to free my father’ Kou Jia said.
Background:
22nd October 2006, Jia Jia, the former Secretary General of the Association of Science and Technology Experts of Shanxi Province left his tour group upon arriving in Taiwan and sought political asylum. On 27, Oct, 2006, Jia Jia held a press conference in Hong Kong at which he testified to the validity that more than 14 million people have quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations at that time. 25 September, 2007, He was granted refugee credentials officially by the United Nations. 26 June 2008 He settled in Wellington, New Zealand. 22nd Oct. 2009, Jia Jia’s flight back to China.
In the past three years he has been a fierce advocator for freedom of Chinese people from the communist regime. He hoped his back to china would encourage more Chinese people dismiss the Chinese Communist Party and achieve democracy in China.
