- 95bFM Audio: It’s part of democratic process that all members of a given age in society are able to vote and elect their government. However, what happens if that person transgresses the laws and rules of that society? Should they still be able to vote in general elections? National MP Paul Quinn does not think so. He believes that prisoners, no matter what crime they’ve been convicted of, should lose their right to go to the ballot. His “Electoral (Disqualification of Convicted Prisoners) Amendment Bill” is set to go before Parliament in March and I spoke to him this morning on the issues surrounding it..
