Foreshore and Seabed stepping stone
Foreshore and Seabed stepping stone
The government’s proposal on the Foreshore and Seabed is welcomed as a stepping stone to a consensus on the framework to replace the 2004 Act. There are important elements in the proposal, but there is still more work to do to achieve an enduring resolution for the nation.
I will be taking the Crown’s proposal to Ngāi Tahu Whānui and together we will work on solution building.
I believe lasting resolution will come with new thinking and creative solutions that recognise the relationship Iwi and hapū have with natural resources under tikanga and the interests of all New Zealanders.
