Super City logo stunning but too generic
“The new super city logo is stunning but sadly it is too generic. The beautiful imagery could be used by almost any town or city in New Zealand. Sadly it says nothing specifically Auckland,” says an Auckland business advocate.
“It looks modern and municipal, but it doesn’t convey anything that makes Auckland unique," says Cameron Brewer, chief executive of the Newmarket Business Association.
“When the public competition was launched in February I criticised the process that would see the winner chosen by a handful of people from behind closed doors. I wanted Auckland’s industry professionals to come up with designs, for the Auckland public to then openly decide.
“This is beautiful and contemporary New Zealand imagery. However if the Auckland public had been given the chance to vote, I don’t think they would have seen this as a strong and unique representation of their region.
“Without a doubt the design is stunning and beautiful, and the Auckland public now needs to get behind it. But sadly it just lacks a definitive Auckland component," says Cameron Brewer.
