Expo
Environment Bay of Plenty Chairman John Cronin and Councillor Robin Ford will be visiting China in July as part of the Mayoral and export delegation to World Expo 2010 – promoted as the largest expo in world history.
The Shanghai expo will feature a showcase of New Zealand culture, innovation and technology. The Environment Bay of Plenty council meeting was told the regional delegation would have the opportunity to strengthen relationships with China contacts in a New Zealand environment, and promote the Bay’s businesses.
Tauranga City Council Mayor Stuart Crosby and councillor Bill Faulkner are also joining the delegation to visit Tauranga’s sister city of 23 years, Yantai. Opotiki District Council Mayor John Forbes and one councillor are also part of the delegation.
Chairman Cronin said his attendance was at the specific request from local mayors, in his capacity as Chairman of the Regional Governance Group responsible for regional economic development.
