Turn 65 years and look out
Turn 65 years and look out
The proposed
health insurance increases announced by Southern Cross do
not come as a surprise to Grey Power.
Southern Cross, along with all other Private Health Insurers, appears to encourage and welcome clients to pay premiums for years when their need is low but, from 65 years of age when generally health needs increase, their premiums skyrocket.
Grey Power believes these premium rises are designed to force superannuitants to cancel their policies. Surely, the Southern Cross TV announcement “We are not for profit, we are for you” is deliberately false advertising.
A possible alternative could be “Take the money and run”.
To make matters worse, when you reach age 65 years the
government also attacks your living standards:-
•
Hearing aids and batteries no longer subsidized by ACC for
industrial deafness suffered earlier in life.
•
Elder education cuts.
• Home Help
cut/discontinued
• Elder Abuse in Rest
Homes
• Safe with age driving courses
discontinued
• Ever increasing Electricity
Bills
• Extra costs from Emission Trading Scheme
from July 1.
