Regional Council nominations close Friday
Regional Council nominations close Friday
People thinking of standing for this
year’s local authority election are reminded that
nominations close this Friday, at noon.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council Electoral Officer Cindy Butt said those thinking of standing for the upcoming elections need to ensure they have their nominations in and verified before the cut off date and time.
“I’d recommend that if people are thinking about standing they get their nominations in sooner, rather than later, to give us time to check their details and ensure the fee is correctly recovered and processed before 12pm on Friday,” Ms Butt said.
“This means that if they have supplied incorrect information or their nomination does not meet the criteria they have time to look at fixing it. We also need time to ensure any fees paid by cheque have been processed.”
Ms Butt said the nomination also needs to be received by the electoral officer in Whakatane by the cut off time – not delivered to the regional council offices in Rotorua or Tauranga without sufficient time to be delivered to Whakatane.
Ms Butt said anyone with questions around the nomination process should visit the Bay of Plenty’s Regional Council website at www.envbop.govt.nz or call her on 0800 368 267.
