6:30pm, Friday, 20th May

B15 Lecture Theatre (Library Basement)

Alfred St, University of Auckland

A 12 week long trial for 15 of those arrested in the so called 'terror raids' of 15 October 2007 was due to begin in the Auckland High Court on May 30. It has now been deferred pending the Supreme Court ruling on a number of aspects of the case. The delay reinforces the demand of this meeting to Drop the Charges! This panel discussion will discuss the ramifications of the case for civil rights in New Zealand.

Speakers:

David Clendon: Green MP

Tame Iti: Drug & Alcohol counsellor for Tuhoe Hauora Trust and defendant in the case.

Syd Keepa: Vice President Maori for New Zealand Council of Trade Unions

John Minto: Spokesman for Global Peace and Justice Auckland

Khylee Quince: University of Auckland Law Lecturer

Barry Wilson: Auckland Council for Civil Liberties.
