ALCP election campaign subject to State interference
ALCP election campaign subject to State interference
The Crown is interfering in a democratic election, Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party leader Michael Appleby says.
The Solicitor General today appealed the sentence of ALCP's New Lynn candidate Dakta Green, who is in Mt Eden prison.
"Judge Gittos had sentenced Dakta Green to 8 months jail specifically so he would be released in time to campaign in the election," Mr Appleby said.
"The Crown's decision to appeal the sentence shows total disregard for the Judge's reasoning and undermines the principles of free and democratic elections.
"These actions amount to state interference and suppression of ALCP's most high profile candidate."
