Grey Power and Asset Sales
Grey Power and Asset Sales
The editorial in today’s Taranaki Daily News contains misconceptions regarding Grey Power’s relationship to political parties as it pertains to the asset sale petition.
Grey Power’s
Non-political Stance:
The Grey Power
constitution unequivocally states that the Federation shall
be non-sectarian and non-party political (clause 2.2.D
(xv)).
Grey Power is not, therefore, allied with any political party. It lobbies all political parties and meets regularly with both government ministers and members of various opposition parties.
Grey Power’s Position
Regarding the Citizen’s-Initiated Referendum on the Sale
of State Assets.
The concept of a
petition calling for a national referendum was first
promoted by Grey Power in association with the NZ University
Students’ Association (NZUSA) and will be presented
jointly by Grey Power and the NZUSA to the Clerk of the
House of
Parliament.
