Reflections on Auckland Planning
Reflections on Auckland Planning
I know this local government election year, and you expect a certain amount of pork barrel politics, but it is disturbing that Auckland Council should stoop so low to foist its limited approach on ratepayers. A budget deal appears on the way. Green fields in exchange for an intensification rubber stamp....
Auckland's
Shameful Deal with Wellington
Intensification
Planning is More than Zoning
I would expect this sort of deal to add fuel to the flames of communities that are concerned by developer led intensification plans and the lack of mechanisms to protect community and neighbourhood amenity. Auckland Council should expect growing revolt if this is how it treats Auckland's existing residents. Any public backlash cannot be dismissed as mere nimbysim. Communities are threatened by the absence of comprehensive urban planning that should accompany the unitary plan.
