Emmett Hussey Election Platform for Auckland Mayoralty 2013
Emmett Hussey’s Election Platform for Auckland Mayoralty 2013
1/ Referendum on the proposed
Auckland Unitary Plan
If Auckland doesn’t accept
the proposed AUP then a new plan will be drawn up with an
emphasis on public consultation, clear easily understood
format, & easy accessibility for public perusal.
2/
STRONGLY petition government for a change in policy to halt
overseas investors investing in NZ housing
stock
Foreign ownership of our housing stock is a key
cornerstone to the rise in property prices, & many overseas
investors are buying multiple properties & in the process
squeezing out NZers’ from buying their first home.
3/
STRONGLY petition government to change immigration policy &
to encourage decentralization
New immigrants are
another big factor in Auckland’s housing, traffic, &
overloaded infrastructure problems. Immigrants to bring
their money & new businesses to regional towns & cities by
law.
4/ Get rid of any unnecessary bureaucracy
5/ I promise to strive (within my control) to spend council’s money as though it were my own money
6/ I promise to strive (within my control) not to inflict on others what I would not be prepared to accept myself under the same conditions
7/ Take the
Chow Brothers to court regarding the loss of the Palace
Hotel & in the interim stop all construction of the new
building on that site
No one should be rewarded for
doing the wrong
thing.
