City Councillor Rob Lutter Intends to Stand for Mayor

City Councillor Rob Lutter has announced his intention to stand for Mayor in the up and coming 2013 Napier Local Govt Elections. He is a third term City Councillor who has chaired the Safer Napier and the Tenders Committee. He was Chair of the Napier Safe Community Committee - which obtained the World Health Organisation safe community accreditation in 2010 - and is currently Chair of the Regulatory Committee as well as Deputy Chair of the Hearing Committee.
“We are now dealing with a changing face in Napier Local Government. With 36 years’ experience between them, both Mayor Barbara Arnott and Deputy Mayor Kathie Furlong are standing down. Our Chief Executive, Neil Taylor, will also be leaving in the next few months. Napier needs experience and sure leadership over the next 3 years - and I have both the experience and the passion to be the next Mayor of Napier.” said Mayoral candidate Rob Lutter.
He has extensive business and management experience including operational management of a medium sized business in Wellington for 12 years to providing business consultancy in Hawkes Bay.
Over the years, Rob Lutter has been involved in volunteer governance in Napier. He held the position of Chairman of Napier Inner City Marketing for 3 years, was Past President of the Ahuriri Sunrise Rotary Club, Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Reignier School and Past Committee member for Napier Neighbourhood Support.
Rob is currently involved with; the Napier Safety Trust team - which was responsible for CCTV cameras being installed around Napier in 2003 - and holds the position of Deputy Chairman, Trustee for @Heart NZ (formerly Heart Children NZ), Treasurer for Pukemokimoki Marae Trust, Justice of the Peace - and Committee Member of the Justice of the Peace Association Hawke’s Bay, Chairman of Taradale High School’s Board of Trustees and the Manager of the Napier Alzheimer’s Society.
“I will continue to work on your behalf to be fiscally responsible, inclusive and approachable. With a new Council, I will look forward to providing Napier City with a clear vision - and the strategies needed to create a better Napier in the years to come,” said Rob.
