Sea Shepherd calls on Australian and NZ Governments
Sea Shepherd calls on the Australian and New Zealand Governments to provide coordinates for Japanese whaling fleet
"The Japanese whaling fleet has greatly expanded their area of illegal operations in the Southern Ocean. This makes finding them very difficult. Sea Shepherd was expecting that Australia or New Zealand would uphold their obligations as responsible members of the International Whaling Commission, to send a ship to intercept the Japanese whaling fleet.
This does not seem to be something Australia or New Zealand are willing to do," said Sea Shepherd founder Captain Paul Watson.
"Therefore Sea Shepherd would like to request from Australia or New Zealand the exact coordinates of the Japanese whaling fleet so that Sea Shepherd can do the job that Australia and New Zealand refuse to do and that is to protect the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary from activities that are in violation of the rules of the IWC, in blatant disregard of the International Court of Justice and in contempt of the Australian Federal Court.
If Australia or New Zealand can kindly provide the coordinates, Sea Shepherd can stop the continuing illegal operations of the renegade outlaw Japanese whaling fleet," concluded Captain Watson.
