Norman Kirk Memorial Trust wins Trust of the Year
Chair of the Norman Kirk Memorial Trust Peter Swain says they are very honoured that the Trust has been awarded the 2015 NZ Trust of the Year Award by the New Zealand Trustees Association.
“Some Prime Ministers are commemorated in statues in city parks but Norman Kirk's great legacy of service is remembered in New Zealand and across the Pacific each year when people, who have been helped by scholarships from the Norman Kirk Memorial Trust, graduate and set off to use their skills and knowledge to serve their communities.
“The Trust is very proud that the memory of a most loved and respected leader is being kept alive by thousands of former Norman Kirk scholars who have taken a second chance for education and are now hard at work helping to advance their people and communities in villages, towns and cities from Apia to Auckland, Honiara to Hokitika and everywhere in between”, said Dr Swain.
The Trust, founded forty years ago with contributions from governments and citizens all over our region, is continuing to follow Norman Kirk's example by encouraging and supporting people determined to learn more and help others.
