SJWA Stands in Solidarity
with Student Housing Action Group’s planned Rally Against
Rent Students for a Just World Aotearoa stand in solidarity
with SHAG in their efforts to build a strong student housing
movement in Auckland.
At a time when housing action on campuses is as necessary as ever to resist gentrification and poor flat conditions, SHAG are possibly the only dedicated organisations doing so in the country. In their clear platform opposing the capitalist housing market extracting profit from the most basic of necessities, they have established a fresh and radical precedent for further action.
SJWA express our solidarity with SHAGs ‘Rally Against Rent’ tomorrow, 1PM Wednesday 18th May, at Auckland University Quad. We look forward to opening a dialogue with them and working towards a broader radical campus housing movement beyond the confines of one campus or city.
We encourage our Auckland supporters, student or not, to join SHAG on tomorrows rally.
