Wellington mayoral candidate Nick Leggett welcomes first baby into the world
From mayoral campaign to maternity suite within 12 hours
Wellington mayoral candidate Nick Leggett has welcomed the arrival of his first baby son barely hours after he launched his ‘Capital Comeback’ campaign.
His wife Emily Leggett gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Tāne Frederick Pita Leggett, weighing 7 pounds 6 oz just before 11am yesterday. Tāne was born via c-section two weeks before his due date due to minor pregnancy complications. Mother and baby are both doing very well.
Tāne's big sister, Madi, who is eleven, is very excited by the news.
“We are both just absolutely thrilled with the arrival of Tāne. I’m incredibly proud of Emily – moving house, being pregnant during a Mayoral campaign and literally having a baby the day after my official launch – she truly is amazing. We both have an exciting journey ahead of us and despite the incredibly busy mayoral campaign; I’m set on being a hand’s on dad, helping support Emily recover from the c-section and getting to know my son.”
