The report and
associated documents into the incident involving Hon Meka
Whaitiri and a staff member have been released today.
The investigation, commissioned by the Department of Internal Affairs, was carried out by David Patten, a barrister who specialises in mediation and arbitration.
The report was submitted to DIA on 19 September, and public versions of the report and associated documents are now available. The Department has redacted from the document references to the names, gender and other identifiable information following a due diligence process, to protect the privacy of those concerned.
The Department will not be making any further comment on this employment matter.
