Happy Birthday, Julian!

The US State department is stll demanding the extradition from Britain of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The US has indicted Assange for 'violations of the Espionage Act related to the publication of classified documents which it is claimed exposed U.S. war crimes.' If the extradition takes place, Assange would most probably spend the rest of his life in prison.

But one of the main witnesses in that extradition case, a convicted hacker Sigurdur “Siggi” Thorarson, has admitted that he made false claims against Assange in exchange for immunity from prosecution.

This surprise revelation is discussed on several websites: democracynow and consortiumnews.com. for example. The headline in a democracynow 28 June report is “ Attorney: U.S. Case Against Julian Assange Falls Apart, as Key Witness Says He Lied to Get Immunity”.

The same article adds,“This is just the latest revelation to demonstrate why the U.S. case should be dropped,” says Jennifer Robinson, a human rights attorney who has been advising Assange and WikiLeaks since 2010. “The factual basis for this case has completely fallen apart.”

Caitlin Johnson's 29 June consortiumnews.com report on the case is headlined “The Weird, Creepy Media Blackout on Recent Assange Revelations.”

She, Caitlin, writes, “ it has been three days since the Icelandic newspaper Stundin broke the story that a key witness in the US government’s case against Julian Assange had fabricated allegations against the WikiLeaks founder. And yet, somehow, Assange is still in prison.

Weirder still, not one major western media outlet outside of Iceland has reported on this massive and entirely legitimate news story.”

So much is at stake. What is really going on in the world? Why is this man, Julian Assange, being subjected to such appalling treatment? Why the silence? Who controls what the public is allowed to know?

Julian's father and brother have been touring the US, pleading the case of Julian. The US public must demand that their government drop the charges against Julian NOW. The Australian public must challenge their government to demand that the US drop the charges. And we, the NZ public, must demand the same of our own government.

July 03 will mark Julian Assange's 50th birthday!

His financée, the lawyer Stella Morris, and the 2 children want him home.

STOP PRESS!!

I was just about to email this blog when I discovered some very recent , and interesting, news. Julian and Stella are hoping to marry inside Belmarsh Prison

before his birthday!

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY JULIAN ASSANGE
