Native Forest Action - Enough is Enough Protest
Media Release
Native Forest Action plans to take part in the Enough is Enough protest march up Trafalgar Street in Nelson this Friday.
"The march is a general protest against the tyrannical government of Aotearoa by the National Party. The Government's irresponsible plunder of our precious lowland rainforest on the West Coast is representative of their inherently exploitative politics."
"The National government have arrogantly ignore the majority of New Zealanders who wish to see native logging on the West Coast by SOE Timberlands stopped. They have hypocritically signed the convention for biodiversity while at the same time support logging of rare native rain forest that provides habitat to countless threatened species. "
"Both the environment and the people of the West Coast have been shamelessly exploited by the National government."
Native Forest Action supports policies that will end Timberlands' native forest logging and provide the West Coast with an economic development package in return for protecting native forests as conservation and eco-tourism assets.
"The Green Party, The Alliance and Labour have all made it their policy to end native logging on public land providing just one of many reasons for New Zealanders to vote for a new government on the 27th."
