Flash SDK to deliver unique multimedia solution

Wireless Ronin licenses Macromedia Flash SDK to deliver unique multimedia solution

Integrates Macromedia Flash with RoninCast dynamic visual marketing system

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - 15 May 2003 - Macromedia (Nasdaq: MACR) and Wireless Ronin Technologies, Inc. announced a licensing agreement to integrate Macromedia Flash support into Wireless Ronin Technologies' RoninCast visual marketing system. Wireless Ronin delivers a unique wireless appliance that enables targeted retail applications to influence customer behaviour, drive sales, and increase brand recognition and customer loyalty. Macromedia Flash is the leading rich client on the Internet.

"Through Macromedia Flash Player SDK licensing, companies like Wireless Ronin can deliver unique vertical solutions that build on the power of our rich client," said Anup Murarka, senior director of marketing, Macromedia. "By using Macromedia Flash as its user interface, Wireless Ronin can immediately tap into more than 750,000 developers able to create content for its platform."

"Macromedia Flash was the obvious choice for our RoninCast platform because of its ability to effectively deliver brand messaging in a compact format wirelessly," said John Behr, founder, chairman, and chief strategy officer, Wireless Ronin Technologies. "With Macromedia Flash, we get an industry standard, a huge developer base, powerful authoring software, and a wide array of content types that we can deliver. There is no other choice."

RoninCast is a dynamic visual marketing system that allows customers to access, monitor, and control video and multimedia data wirelessly. By leveraging state-of-the-art and emerging software, hardware and wireless technologies, RoninCast boosts productivity, revenues and efficiency - and ensures optimal security.

Two application-specific software solutions are embedded into RoninCast. The first is a software platform developed specifically to send and receive data, and to monitor multiple remote devices from a central location. This is combined with Wireless Ronin Technologies' second platform - an innovative presentation software technology based on Macromedia Flash 5, specifically designed to run on a Linux platform. This software allows single-function remote devices to display multimedia content, thus providing significant advancements for end users.
