tvnz.co.nz - Best Website 2006
TVNZ's website has been named Best Website 2006 at the Qantas Media Awards.
tvnz.co.nz beat newspaper sites Stuff and the NZ Herald, who were the other finalists in the category.
The judges, a panel of international experts, noted the website's depth of content in multimedia and ability to provide video on demand for shows such as Close Up as key reasons for the win.
The website recently provided live coverage of the Commonwealth Games online - a first for New Zealand broadcasting. The live streaming was complemented by specially prepared packages which showed highlights and 'Kiwi moments' on demand.
TVNZ's General Manager for Interactive, Alistair Matthewson, says it is fantastic recognition of TVNZ's commitment to innovate and enable the integrated delivery of content on static or mobile screens to New Zealanders, whenever and wherever they are. "We have really embraced new technologies and are making the most of the content that is generated by both our team and TVNZ's wide array of shows," says Matthewson.
