Council invites feedback on resident satisfaction

Media Release: Wednesday 15 May 2018

Horowhenua District Council invites feedback on resident satisfaction

Horowhenua District Council is running its Resident Satisfaction Survey to find out what residents and ratepayers think about its services, facilities and communications. Community wellbeing is also an important part of the survey.

General Manager Horowhenua 2040 Nicki Brady said Council conducts the survey every year as one of several ways to establish community views.

“Direct feedback from residents is valuable as it is from shared resident experiences that Council can identify what is working well and where improvement is needed. We appreciate residents taking the time to provide feedback,” she said.

The survey will be conducted through phone calls, and is also available for any resident or ratepayer to complete online.

Students and parents from Waiopehu College will conduct the telephone survey. Phone calls will be made between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays over four weeks, starting on Tuesday 21 May. All telephone numbers are sourced from the White Pages phone directory at random.

The online survey can be completed through Council’s website, www.horowhenua.govt.nz. The survey link is on the home page of Council’s website and will also be shared through Council’s social media channels.

This is the sixth year Council has commissioned Waiopehu College to assist with the survey, with the students and parents using the opportunity to fundraise towards a group trip to Japan.

Last year’s survey canvassed opinions from more than 800 residents, and showed that overall satisfaction with Council services and facilities was 81 per cent.

Community Engagement Manager Lacey Winiata said Council would make key results from the survey publicly available.

Council’s Chief Executive David Clapperton encouraged residents to complete the survey.

“Feedback from the Resident Satisfaction Survey is one of the key mechanisms Council uses to measure whether we’re meeting the targets in our Annual Plan,” he said.
