Prime Minister Responds To One Network News Report |
||
MEDIA RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday 24 June 1999
"I enjoyed appearing on the Crossfire show on Monday night and also enjoyed the after-match function attended by the television presenters Mike Hosking, Linda Clark, one of my staff and myself," Prime Minister Jenny Shipley said tonight.
"I am angry that comments that have been attributed to me in a social exchange have now been made into a media event.
"A number of flippant comments were made by all concerned, but I do not recall using the words used on One Network News tonight.
"The conversation went on to a reasonably serious discussion about my understanding at the time that the matter between John Hawkesby and TVNZ had been settled.
"As I said in my press conference this afternoon, I don't intend to comment on this issue any further," Mrs Shipley said.
