Westpac Rescue Helicopter Transports Struck By Car
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported a seven year old child struck by a car earlier this evening.
As we understand it the seven year old Waikanae boy was struck by a car on Waimea Road, Waikanae around 5:15 pm.
Police, Wellington Free Ambulance and the Kapiti EMS team were all at the scene.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter landed around the corner from the incident at the Waikanae Surf Club. The child was transported by road ambulance to the helicopter and then flown into Wellington Hospital Emergency Department under the care of a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic. The boys mother was also carried on the helicopter.
The seven year old is in a very serious condition and is currently being assessed and treated at Wellington Hospital.
