‘Save the Tiger’
Street Appeal 2006
Volunteer Positions Available!!
Friday 16th June 2006
Exclusive to Auckland CBD area
'Save the Tiger' Street Appeal is part of the Zoo's Tiger Time Campaign. We're aiming to raise $1million to bring a male Sumatran tiger to New Zealand from Israel as a mate for our 'sadly single' female Sumatran tiger Nisha. The funds raised will also help construct an exhibit for the male tiger and support the captive breeding programme for this critically endangered species.
Did you know?
- Over the last century, three out of eight entire sub-species of tiger have been wiped out.
- Sumatran tigers are numbering fewer than 400 in the wild and are classified as critically endangered species primarily due to poaching for body parts and habitat loss/ deforestation.
- In our lifetime we could witness the complete extinction of all wild Sumatran tigers.
Please help make a difference and volunteer some of your time. Contact us now!
