Looking after Auckland Harbour Bridge
As part of ongoing maintenance on Auckland Harbour Bridge, the four centre lanes of the bridge will be closed Sunday to Thursday nights from Sunday 24 September until Thursday 12 October. The centre lanes will close at around 8pm before reopening at 5am.
The outer (clip-on) lanes will stay open throughout and a tow truck will be on standby in the event of any breakdowns.
The centre lanes will close so welding can be completed safely below the road deck. Preparations are also being made for a new guardrail to protect the arch in the event of a vehicle colliding with the bridge.
Transit apologises in advance for any inconvenience the work may cause motorists. The closures are part of an ongoing programme to look after the harbour bridge and ensure its continued existence long into the future.
Work is being carried out at night to limit the impact on motorists. There may be some delays. In the event of significant delays, the closures will be reviewed.
In the event of poor weather or unforeseen circumstances, further information will be provided regarding new dates.
