To infinity and beyond: Superheroes and superstars at your local library
During these April school holidays 14 – 25 April, Auckland City Libraries are celebrating the worlds of superheroes and superstars at your local library.
Kids can win great prizes from the programme’s sponsors Gotham Comics, Real Groovy and St John Ambulance by taking part in some fun competitions. Competitions range from creating your very own superhero or superstar, checking out six children’s items, and taking part in an online superhero quiz.
Events at libraries include a storytime at Avondale Community Library on 13 April with fire fighters from the Avondale Fire Station. Sci fi fans can take part in an art and craft workshop at Pt Chevalier Community Library with Johnny Angel, creator of The Adventures of Afi, Episode VII, and Wars of the Heart on 18 April. Panmure Community Library is also holding an art event on 18 April where you can create your own superhero using a variety of mediums.
