Mayoral candidate withdraws
October 1, 2007
North Shore City Mayoral candidate Blair has withdrawn from the race.
North Shore City's electoral officer, Peter McArthur, says although Mr Blair's name appears on the voting form, electors are asked not to vote for this candidate for the office of Mayor of North Shore City.
"Any votes cast for Mr Blair in this election for the office of Mayor will be void," he says.
"It's important to note that Mr Blair's withdrawal relates exclusively to the election of Mayor of North Shore City, he nonetheless remains a candidate for the election to the office of member of Council (Councillor) in the city's Northern Ward," says Mr McArthur.
