Don't miss the Central Plains Water bus!

Media Briefing: Malvern Hills Protection Society

Subject: Free bus transport for Central Plains Water submitters

Don't miss the Central Plains Water bus!

Environment Canterbury (ECan) is convening a pre-hearing meeting on Tuesday,
18 December 2008 from 9am -1pm at the Christchurch Town Hall, to determine
the procedures for the formal Central Plains Water (CPW) hearing being held
in February 2008.

Approximately 1200 submitters have reserved the right to be heard in respect
of the CPW application and should have received a letter from ECan advising
of the pre-hearing meeting.

Malvern Hills Protection Society believes there are significant
environmental issues that have the potential not only to have an impact on
their local community but also to flow right into the very drinking water of
Christchurch.

The number of people that have requested speaking rights, means that the CPW
application will be one of the largest hearings to have ever been convened
by a Local or Regional Council in New Zealand.

So, to ensure as many submitters as possible can attend on Tuesday 18
December, Malvern Hills Protection Society is providing free bus transport
to the Christchurch Town Hall and return for those wishing to attend.

The bus will leave at the following times opposite:

Springfield Garage - 7.15am
Sheffield Bakery - 7.30am
Darfield Hotel - 7.50am
Kirwee Garage - 8.15am
