Hillary Collegiate receives Hillary Tribute
Auckland Museum donates banners to Hillary Collegiate
Auckland Museum announces its donation of the stunning Everest banners, commissioned as part of their commemoration to Sir Edmund Hillary, to Hillary Collegiate. The banners will reside in the new library at the Senior School from Friday 8th February.
“We wanted to ensure an on-going life for these works and donating them to the college seems entirely the right thing to do; that they are able to be incorporated into the schools new library is a wonderful coincidence." said Auckland Museum director Dr Vanda Vitali.
Auckland Museum has a strong connection with Hilary College with students participating in Museum educational programmes both on and off-site for many years.
The school, which for the next three weeks will commemorate Sir Edmund Hillary’s life, will be permanently exhibiting the piece in a prominent position the student library. The library will be closed until Tuesday allowing for it to be blessed and officially opened to the public.
