Heketoa joins the Otara Community Board
The Otara Community Board is operating
at full capacity as new member, Mele Nouella Heketoa, won
the by-election today with 2420 votes.
A board member position became vacant when Efu Koka was elected to Otara ward councillor in a by-election held in July this year.
Manukau City Council’s electoral officer John Skelton says the voter turn-out was 20.7 per cent. This compares with 24 per cent voter turn-out for the Otara ward councillor by-election held this year, and 325 per cent voter turn-out for Otara in the 2007 triennial elections.
