World Expert on
Homelessness – Speaking in Wellington
18 March 2009
You’re invited to attend a presentation by one of the world’s leading thinkers on homelessness.
Philip Mangano, Executive Director of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, is an inspiring speaker and has a tremendous amount of experience in tackling this serious issue.
Mr Mangano is the keynote speaker at the New Zealand Coalition to End Homelessness Conference and is only in Wellington for a short time.
He has engaged every level of government and the private sector to form a National Partnership to end homelessness. The San Francisco Chronicle called the Council’s work the “most aggressive nationwide strategy in a generation to solve homelessness.”
In 2007, he was nominated as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and in September 2008 was recognized by the International Downtown Association (IDA) with a Lifetime Achievement Award, IDA’s most prestigious award.
For more information about his work please see http://www.ich.gov/mangano.html
Downtown Community Ministry staff are also presenting at the Conference and look forward to what Mr Mangano has to say.
The talk is being held on Thursday 26th March from 5:15 - 6:15pm in the Frank Taplin Room, City Convention Centre.
Please RSVP to Eleanor Doig, Senior Advisor City Communities on 803 8701 or eleanor.doig[at]wcc.govt.nz
The talk is sponsored by Wellington City Council, Regional Public Health and New Zealand Coalition to End Homelessness.
