All Evacuees
Catered For
On the second night of the "Napier Lockdown" Napier Civil Defence reported that 95 adults and 16 children, including families, were accommodated in Napier hotels and motels.
Rumours are rife that there were a lack of beds and that people slept in the Welfare Centre at Napier Intermediate School but this is entirely untrue. Napier Civil Defence confirms that all people registered at the Welfare Centre were accommodated efficiently and nobody slept at the centre.
Napier Civil Defence has planned a roster for the next 48 hours and Civil Defence Controller Dennis Morgan says his team is prepared for the long haul.
If people have queries they are advised to phone Napier Civil Defence on 835 7579.
