Happy Father’s Day!
Plunket and the All
Blacks have teamed up to wish kiwi dads a happy Father’s
Day!
Dads play an important role in a child’s life, and it’s important that we encourage and support fathers as they continue to develop their parenting skills.
Traditionally mothers have been seen as the primary caregiver and this has resulted in many services over the years being developed for women. However, Plunket recognises New Zealand families are changing, with dads wanting to be more involved in their child’s lives.
“It’s great that we are seeing more dads involved in parent education programmes, coffee groups and volunteer committees, reflecting the changing nature of parenting in our communities,” says Carol Becker, Plunket President.
Plunket offers a parenting education course specifically designed for fathers called Dads4Dads. The courses are run by fathers and mean that dads can learn about parenting with other dads who are going through similar experiences
