No Custodial Sentence For Cannabis Campaigner
The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party congratulates both
Dakta Green and
Judge Graham Hubble for Green's discharge
without sentence yesterday. Green was charged and convicted,
but was sent free by Judge Hubble.
Congratulations to Dakta Green for an inspirational use of the Roaring Lion strategy, and to Judge Hubble for having the courage and foresight not to impose a custodial sentence.
The Cannabis Party believes that the colossal waste of money involved in prosecuting Green for this 'crime' should have been spent on prosecuting violent or dangerous criminals. Cannabis Party policy calls for an immediate halt to cannabis related arrests so that taxpayer funded travesties like Dakta Green's case no longer happen.
