Tender awarded for State Highway 2 improvements
Tender awarded for State Highway 2 safety improvements investigation
The tender to investigate three potential improvement projects on State Highway 2 north of Katikati was awarded this week to Opus International Consultants, reports the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA).
Three relatively small projects, packaged as one contract to provide economic and timing efficiencies, are part of a long term strategy to improve safety and provide more passing opportunities on the busy commuter, tourism and local freight route.
The contract involves investigating improvements to the curve at Arden Cottage corner and reviewing the possibility of adding passing lanes near Bridgman Lane and Wolseley Road. Potentially affected people will be consulted and options for exact start/end points for each project will be considered.
The NZTA’s State Highway Manager Rod James says the $400,000 investigation is expected to be completed by mid-2011.
