Cyclist Rescued Off Queen Charlotte Track
The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter rescued an injured mountain biker from the The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter rescued an injured mountain biker from the Queen Charlotte Track in Marlborough earlier this afternoon.
The 51 year old Christchurch man was injured when he fell off his mountain bike on a down hill part of the track. He was with several other people who raised the alarm on 111.
The accident occurred mid way between Ship Cove and Resolution Bay at around 1:30 this afternoon.
Our Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic was winched to the track and then the paramedic and injured man were winched back into the helicopter.
The man has been transported to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim where he is currently being assessed and treated.
