Council releases information on Turua Street
Auckland Council has made public information on options for three Spanish Mission style houses in St Heliers.
Work on the demolition of the three properties at 8, 10 and 12 Turua Street was suspended in December after the Managing Director of Ancona Group, Mike Markham and his team met with the Mayor.
The developer has given an undertaking that the suspension of work on these properties will continue in the meantime as council considers its options.
Further discussions between Ancona Group and Auckland Council are scheduled for next week.
In the meantime, work on the demolition of other properties in the area not involved in this agreement is due to begin within the next few days.
After the initial meeting with the developer, Mayor Len Brown said he accepted Ancona had a legitimate right to redevelop its land but noted it was a willing participant in this initiative.
However he said people should remain realistic about possible outcomes of the process.
