Glendowie Primary School fire devastating for community
“The large fire at Glendowie Primary School is a big blow to such a close-knit community and well respected school,” says local councillor Cameron Brewer, Auckland Councillor for Orakei.
“Down the far reaches of Riddell Road the school appeared almost immune to such events. This will be such a huge shock to a community that prides itself on living quietly and being family-focused.
“My heart goes out to all those that that have made this school so great over many years. The school has many successful past pupils, and its current pupils will also be sad. The only good news is that there is no loss of life. Any buildings lost, can, and will be replaced. Fortunately a lot of the tidy up can happen before the new school year.
“This will only make the already strong school community even stronger,” says Cameron Brewer.
