The Eden Rugby Football Club (est. 1922) is known as ‘the club they named Eden Park after’. The clubrooms are at Gribblehirst Park, just 700 metres from the home of Auckland Rugby, Eden Park. The Eden RFC has had a long and close association with Eden Park including supplying the ballboys for all key games at Eden Park. This year is no exception; the Eden RFU ballboys have to be the luckiest kids in the world.

Over the next two months the Eden RFU clubrooms are being given an extreme makeover, in plenty of time for the international season up ahead. “A huge team of club volunteers has come together to make the most of the biggest sporting event in New Zealand,” says Liam Denton, Deputy Chairman of Eden Rugby. “We’ve raised tens of thousands of dollars to do up our historic club rooms and soon we’ll be throwing open the doors to guests from around the world and New Zealand to celebrate. We’ve established the Eden Rugby International Supporters’ Club to ensure that locals and visitors to the area can enjoy a truly authentic rugby experience, in traditional rooms with great bevvies and good food.”

In response to a lot of recent media attention on expensive entertainment and overpriced venues Liam has this to say, “if you are wanting to host mates, colleagues, clients or international visitors at a venue that oozes rugby and is only a few minutes walk from Eden Park, then look no further than the Eden Supporters’ Club. We’ve put together packages for pre-match and during match entertainment that are so cost effective we have people falling over themselves to sign up.
