Major resurfacing works to start early next week on Route J
Major pavement reconstruction works will be undertaken for seven weeks on State Highway 2 Route J (Tamataea Arikinui Drive) between the Cambridge Road On/Off Ramps and the eastern end of the Kopurererua Stream Bridge, advises the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).
The pavement works will be undertaken over a 560m length in both the eastbound and west bound directions of this section of Route J.
A speed restriction of 50km/hr will be in place around this construction area, says Bay of Plenty State Highway Manager, Brett Gliddon.
Mr Gliddon says the work will take place over a seven week period with a single lane open at all times which will require some detouring of traffic at peak times.
The pavement work near the Cambridge Road On and Off Ramps will be done during the night between 6pm and 7am, with the ramps closed, and detour routes provided via Cambridge Road and Moffat Road.
The pavement works will be completed at the end of May,
says Mr Gliddon.
Variable message boards will be
displayed to provide motorists with advanced warning of the
works ahead and a speed restriction will be in place.
The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) thanks motorists for their patience whilst we undertaking this annual maintenance resurfacing work.
Motorists wanting to find out more about the road works or obtain detour information should go to the NZTA’s website at www.nzta.govt.nz; or freephone 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
