Orion network coping well with snow
In general, the Orion network is holding up well as snow continues to fall in Christchurch and central Canterbury.
Approximately 400 customers in parts of Harewood, West Melton and McLeans Island are without power due to the weather and a car collision with a power pole. Teams are working as quickly as possible to restore power.
In total, Orion supplies power to more than 190,000 homes and businesses.
"Our crews are ready to respond quickly to any issues and make any repairs needed. At this stage, the network appears to be coping reasonably well," says Orion Chief Executive Rob Jamieson.
"We urge people in Christchurch and central Canterbury to please keep off the roads as much as possible today - our crews need to be able to get through on the roads safely and quickly to restore power. If you must go out, please drive carefully," Mr Jamieson continues.
If your power is off, please contact Orion on 03 363 9898. Contact friends or family for help where necessary.
