Another Milestone for Mcentral and the Manukau CBD
Another Milestone for Mcentral and the Manukau
CBD
AUCKLAND, Saturday, 13 April 2013: MCentral is another step closer to completion with the internal strip out of the old IRD fit out underway. MCentral team leader Richard Jamieson says, “We are on track for construction commencing in May, and Owners moving in mid next year.” MCentral is a 114 apartment / 34 specialty retail complex that is forming part of the revitalisation of the Manukau CBD.
Manukau CBD is undergoing a major transformation and the epicentre is the new MIT Campus / Manukau Train Station. 5000 students are going to be injected into the Manukau community later this year, providing a demand for services and goods. *
One long term Manukau property owner is planning to provide the supply by providing Freehold Strata Apartments and Retail units 80 meters from those 5000 students.* MCentral is a mixed use rejuvenation of a landmark building, given a second life by the innovative design of award winning architecture of Leuschke Group. The design has been likened to buildings in Rotterdam by architectural commentators.
The building includes 114 apartments starting from $218,000 and 34 retail units from $69,000. At those prices you would think they are flying off the shelf, and you would be right, in the first full week in the onsite display suite 25 properties have already been sold. Now there is only a hand full available on each floor of the building.
All signs are pointing towards 2013 being a year of resurgence of the property market and specifically apartment investments. You still have to choose your investments wisely, remember the first three rules of property, location, location, location. Mcentral has this covered in spades, 5000 MIT students growing to 25,000 in 2025, * 800,000 train commuters every year, and the transport hub directly across the road bringing 1,200,000 sets of eyes and wallets to the lucky 34 retailers. **
One of those retailers that has purchased early is publican and property investor Evan King. Evan has been highly successful from his Newmarket bars which are staples in the Auckland area. “When an opportunity comes along like this you say yes. I came for one solid investment and I am leaving with three units that will add strength and diversity to my portfolio”.
Richard Jamieson - Mcentral team leader said. “We have had a lot of interest in multiple purchases, one investor purchased 3 retail units and they are interested in 2 more. We are now estimating complete sell down in April which would have been unthinkable 6 months ago. That is just how quickly the (property) market is moving.”
Mcentral is located at 17 Putney Way,
Manukau. The Display suite is open Saturday/Sunday 10am –
4pm and Wednesday 11am – 2pm or the savvy investor can
organise a private
viewing by calling 0508MCENTRAL
(0508623687). All the information is available at
mcentral.co.nz but don’t surf to long, the influx is
coming and the wave of demand is only going to get bigger.
Manukau CBD is in the first stages of a major
rejuvenation. CAN YOU AFFORD TO MISS OUT!

Manukau's beautiful rural character is still very evident, with two thirds of the area still in agricultural use. The link with urban areas provides an interesting contrast that is very special to Manukau. Across all of the territory, Manukau is endowed with a vast array of parks, playgrounds, marine facilities, sports fields, libraries, recreation and cultural centres, swimming pools and commercial recreational opportunities.
