Government needs to take a step back on Auckland transport discussion
Auckland Mayor Len Brown says the government ought to take a step back and hear what Aucklanders have to say before weighing in on a discussion about future transport funding.
“Today should be about hearing from the independent Consensus Building Group. They have spent six months taking a long, hard look at the transport funding gap Auckland faces. Their report reflects the thinking of 17 of Auckland's most influential community and business stakeholders.
“Surely the Government should give them the opportunity to hear from Aucklanders before weighing in on the debate.”
