Hamilton stops fluoridation
Hamilton stops fluoridation
Fluoride Action Network NZ
is delighted that the Hamilton City Councillors voted to
stop adding hydrofluorosilicic acid the the community water
supply in Hamilton.
The vote was 7 to 1 in favour of stopping this mass medication with this dubious chemical. Most councillors cited the weight of evidence outweighed any possible benefit. They were all pleased that they opted for a Tribunal style hearing rather than a referendum realising that there is a huge amount of information that the public mostly are not aware of.
There are now only 22 councils out of 67 councils that still have water fluoridation. Whakatane and Hastings councils are holding referenda in conjunction with the local body elections this years, so this figure could very well end up being 20 out of 67.
"It is time for the remaining fluoridating councils to sit up and take stock. This is the second largest council to listen to all the information and choose to stop fluoridation in recent years. Fluoridation is definitely on its way out in New Zealand".
